Hi,

Is it critical that you have it now?
Do you mind doing your own upgrades?

If it's not critical, then wait and have Vista preinstalled. If you don't
like monitoring upgrades, or having to address a failed upgrade, then wait.

Hi,

Well, a few advantages include:

- It will be a supported OS for at least 5 years, XP support will begin to
wane soon.
- Newer software will be written with Vista in mind.
- Vista is inherently more secure and should help the average user keep crap
out of their system.

Sony's are decent systems, and there is no reason not to get it now with the
upgrade other than that which I have already pointed out. And I would
strongly recommend that you take advantage of the upgrade.

From this post your decision seems obvious: Buy now, you will get the
Vista upgrade free, you can decide later whether to use it or not. Buy
a model with XP media center so that your vista upgrade is free and also
so that it's Vista Premium, and not Vista Basic (which is really crappy,
and also that upgrade is not free).

The Sony website says the following: "You'll get a user-friendly,

Yes. It means you won't have to go all over the Web looking for the
drivers to make your machine work. It's like buying the computer with
Vista already installed except you have to do the installation yourself.

Yes, it's good. Which doesn't answer the question of whether or not you
should actually install it, but it's free (for a limited time only), so
you should definitely get it. It will cost you about $200 to buy that
later if you decide that you want it and don't get it.
