Received the Kingston yesterday. Installed it and Windows Experience bumped
back up to 5.5, which is where it started. I thought adding the xtra 2GB
would bring the score up.

The Windows experience score is not a valid test of computer performance in
any way, shape or form.
In my experience with Vista the most limiting factor is how fast data can be
read/write off the hard drive.
Vista32 has the slowest disc access of any Microsoft OS.
Anyone who has dual booted XP and Vista on the same machine and hard drive
can attest to this. I still suspect this is one reason why Microsoft
discourages XP/Vista dual booting by deliberately wiping out Vista's restore
files if you dare to dual boot to XP. There is no technical reason why the
restore files have to be wiped out but if you dual boot to XP you will
immediately wonder why your computer seems so much slower in Vista32.
There is little difference running Vista on most machines for the tasks most
people pursue even going from 1 to 3 gbs or changing from mobo based
graphics to a discrete graphics card.
Vista 64 is actually faster in everyday use on the appropriate machine,
which may be why you now see Vista 64 on middle and low end laptops.
Unfortunately Vista64 drivers are often not as functional as Vista32 drivers
and may not even exist for recent hardware.
My experience with the Win7/Vista SP3 64 bit beta suggests early adapters
will be in for a world of hurt with regard to drivers when that service pack
is sold as a new OS in the next few months.
Hopefully Microsoft will be in for a world of painfully expensive legal
challenges for vending that upgrade as a "new" OS.

That score is ok, and would probably only rise if you had matching sticks of
the most expensive memory available..

Thanks, Mike. The Kingston was twice as expensive as the Corsair.
Whatever. I'll settle for 5.5 and 8GB memory. This thing runs like
lightening.

Btw. I only top post when I have to respond to a top poster. I gave up on
the top post/bottom post war 12 years ago.
