Well, if you mean a message that person A forwarded to person B and then
B forwarded to C and then C forwarded to you it's working like real
paper mail so that each time it's sent on, the sender is leaving it in
the old envelope and simply placing that inside a new envelope. This is
more to do with the way the sender is working than Windows mail. Usually
these forwarded emails contain the addresses of all the other
recipients, which really not good because if one person gets a virus it
has all your email addresses to sell to spammers.
Better to copy the content and simply send that in a new email to you.
As to why you can't read the messages that sounds like a file
association problem or a problem where your anti virus software is
blocking them. What file extension do they usually have (eg .doc .eml
etc) and what are your anti virus setting, someone will be able to offer
better help with those extra details.
