Whilst I can't directly assist with your enquiry, I am also suffering this
reboot subsequent to the update issued 21 August 2006.
I've been suffering similar loops after booting and seeing Windows Error
Reporting attempting to send info to MS. That's OK, but it blue screens me,
for about 1.5 secs. Then another reboot, I decline to report the error and it
all functions fine, until this week.
It's at it again, but this time it doesn't matter whether I decide to send
or not, some service or program starts, in the background, and bingo, blue
screen again.
This only happens on this slower machine. Athlon 1400, fx5500, Soltek board.
Everything is absolutely delightful on the other machine: Athlon64 3500,
SATA, FX5950 Ultra, Asrock Combo board. Dual boot WinXP SP2
I have done a system restore to before the recent update, but to no avail.
Trust MS might issue a fix. Only problem, the system only boots stable into
safe mode, and windows updates wont work in this mode for some reason.
Struggling on.
