Ctrl+B bold
Ctrl+B again unbold
Ctrl+I italic
Ctrl+I again unitalic
Ctrl+U underscore
Ctrl+U again remove underscore.

Has always worked, and still does.

In MS Word 2003 on my Vista computer, Contol-space works to turn off
Italics/Bold/Underline in several combinations (I didn't test all seven).

You can always modify the registry to make sure that it switched the way you
like it

I'm not the OP. I didn't even know about control-space until I read this
thread, and I did nothing to change the behavior of Word (which is newly
installed under the 2-user license on this new computer). Nor do I care
either way, truth be told, since I'm not that heavy a user.

I posted what I did in order to encourage the OP to check *his*
settings...In other words, I was trying to be helpful :-)
