The Y2K scare was in fact real, but many people worked on fixing the
various problems, so there were relatively few crashes due to the rollover
to 20-00.
I was one of the people who worked to fix problems in advance of New Year's
day 2000, so:
a. I know it was real
b. I resent people who think it wasn't real, without realizing that the
reason they weren't affected was that it was fixed in advance, not because
it was fake.
BTW, I am posting on April 1, and AFAIK, Conficker isn't affecting me.
