Obviously, the other desktop is/was not configured exactly correctly.
Generally, you compare it's network settings against the working P/C.
(TCPIP, MS Client, sharing, etc)
"it told me that it was not connected to the internet!"

It's remotely possible that the second P/C has more than one Ethernet port,
and only one is connected and configured.
I generally disable the second port, unless the P/C is in use as a
firewall/server.

You do yourself a disservice when you do not post the details of the
problematic system. This places any advice given as a mere guess.

"I recently tried to connect another desktop to it and it told me
that it was not connected to the internet! I could plainly see that I
WAS connected to the internet because I was using it. What can I do
about this problem so I can connect this other computer?"

Is it possible that the OP's router has MAC address filtering turned
on?
