Even with SP2 installed (which you really should have) 18 GB should be
adequate. Have you moved all data folders to another partition following the
MS white paper
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...(WS.10).aspx)? Have you
used the treesize utility to determine what else is taking up the space?

If you read the white paper carefully you'll see the KB reference is there
as well as the excerpt you posted below:

Moving the Exchange database/logs is usually quite easy.
