I have the same problem. I have a JVC Everio Hard Disc and all video
downloads onto my PC as 4:3 if I use the USB connection.
Peculiarly, the software that came with the camera, Cyberling Power Director
Power Producer etc. sees the downlaoed video as widescreen 16:9, whilst all
other software including Roxio, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Centre,
Corel Paint Shop Pro all show as 4:3.

If I use a firewire connection, which I bought extra for about £4 UK, which
only allows downloading video in real time as opposed to copying files, Roxio
sees it as widescreen. I have not tried Windows Movie maker, Windows Media
Player etc this way yet.

I am looking for a universal solution, which must be out there somewhere.

I'm sure it is a useful program, but since you clipped the rest of the
thread, it's hard to tell what problem it is addressing.
