On my Word 2003 there is this command:
File -> File Search
which will search through files for given text.
You can select file types and directories, but I have no idea how
flexible it is. I see you can construct Boolean searches, but I didn't
note any regular expression capabilities in the few moments I spent
looking.
It wasn't obvious, but clicking on help and searching for "find text in
files" (no quotes) got it for me.
My MS Office 2003 is obviously not the latest; I assume the capability
exists in newer versions (but ya can't be sure, can ya?).
