See if setting the path of FileList resolves this issue:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Wind ows
XP\SP3\KB927779\Filelist\1

Name Data
Location D:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ADO

Do the same for Filelist 2 and 3
Restart the system
Did the prompt to reinstall KB927779 show up again ?

Did you happen to see Freudi's post ? :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933700

' change the ProgramFilesDir registry value to use the default location
for the Program Files folder '

See if resetting ProgramFiles to it's Duhfault location resolves the
redetection issue.
