I have this problem, as does every computer at my University with optical
mice and Windows XP. It happens regardless of the service packs. Many people
I know have this issue and don't know it as it isn't that obvious unless you
use mice regularly. No cure sorry, I am also going nuts... although I plugged
my mouse into the USB port and it happens much less often now.
