For further information etc.

You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs "Digital Signature not found"
When you use the Windows Update Web site to install updates, the installation fails
and the Windows Update.log file contains error 80070643.

I did a little searching for previous threads where I had posted the
same/similar instructions for others. Of the couple who responded back
stating that registering those .dll files did not solve the problem, here is
what worked for them:

1) one gentleman met with success after restarting his computer

2) another gentleman ran this batch file (written by MVP Torgeir Bakken):
http://www.michna.com/kb/fixdb.bat
The link (as well as further information) is located on Hans-Georg Michna's
site:
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#C...Service_Pack_2 (scroll
down to the "Cryptographic service and related errors" section)

Great!!! You're welcome for my patience :-)

Yes, you would have to re-install SP2 if you formatted the HD and
reinstalled XP. You might want to consider creating a bootable CD
slipstreamed with SP2.........here is one set of instructions (there are
quite a few sites that have instructions for creating the slipstreamed CD):
