Wow, I'm surprised by your comments. I love Skype and I tell everyone who
cares to listen about it.

My wife and I got rid of our landline two years ago. We both have cheap
pay-as-you-go cell phones, and we use Skype for practically all our calls.
We don't use our cell phones much, and when we get a call that's likely to be
more than a few minutes, we tell the caller that we'll call them right back
on Skype. This has worked very well for us. Our phone bill would typically
be $35/month if we didn't make any long-distance calls. A few calls to the
UK or friends elsewhere in the States would often get us a $50 or $60 phone
bill. Good riddance, Ma Bell!

The call quality is excellent over 90% of the time. We have a fiber
connection to the web, which helps. I find that even with both parties using
video, the quality is still great. Recently, I used SkypeOut to hold a
conference call with two relatives, one here in the US and the other in
Malta, neither of whom has a computer. Again, the quality was terrific, as
good as a landline. At 15 cents per minute to Malta and the US call free,
the price sure is right.

Regarding customer service, I can't comment because I've never needed them.
Whenever I've needed help, I found it in the knowledge base.

Give them another try - change your user name if you have to. Good luck!

I am very surprised to hear that people are getting poor quality calls with
Skype...
99% of the time it is very good. We use it for landline calls to our family
in the Philippines and it has always works for us.
