Always back up important stuff before installing a major update -

Windows XP Service Pack 2 - download (for single PCs also)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

SP2 CD can be ordered online.

|I was unable to download SP2 for a long time because it kept messing up.
|
| Then I got SP2 to download once but again something went wrong. Ever since,
| I only had 4 components of SP2. I tried to delete SP2 components and 1 does
| not offer a "remove" feature and I deleted 2 so far.
|
| I tried again to download SP2 and it still says 0 kb to download so nothing
| to download.
|
| I have Windows XP, Norton's Internet Security and not sure what else you
| might need to know.
|
| I have a lot of data on this computer right now and am trying to get it off
| of here in case I need to reinstall windows but other than that is there a
| way to get SP2 without losing everything?
|
| Thanks for your help.

| Well I downloaded from that link and after it was downloaded I went to
| install and it stopped somewhere in the middle and said access denied or
| something like this.
|
| Then it stated that some changes had been made to my computer and that
| Windows may not operate correctly now.
|
| Sure enough when I went to restart the computer it kept rebooting and then
| when I did get it to load I could not do most things on my computer.
|
| Thank God I had a new HD I was wanting to install anyway...but in the
| meantime the HD that would not accept SP2 is still screwed up and I need to
| find some way of saving all my data off of there so I can get it on the new
| HD before reinstalling everything on the old one.
