Alan,
It *may* be a digital certificate that has not been not signed that is
causing the install failure. Download fixdb.bat -
http://www.michna.com/kb/tools/fixdb.bat
Save it to the Desktop, close the browser, and then double click it to
run it. Restart the system afterwards.
Now try to install SP2.
If the installation still fails, check the setupapi.log located in the
WINDOWS directory (folder) for error messages/codes.
If SP2 was downloaded from Windows Updates, suggest you obtain the full
package from here and SAVE it -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Then run fixdb.bat, restart the system, and install SP2.
