RE: SP2 Upgrade

Rich- I had the same problems you had. I tried for months installing SP2, but
it would hang in the middle. I ordered the CD, but had the same problems. I
asked for help everywhere. Finally, someone suggested I either try to install
from Safe Mode, or close all startup applications before try to install SP2.
I first loaded WinPatrol from the internet (free) to close all my startup
programs, then installed from CD. It was all over in less than 10 minutes!
Everything has worked fine since then. Jane

Jane,

Thank you so much for the insight. I went into msconfig and disabled all of
the startup items, rebooted and downloaded SP2. It failed. I then downloaded
WinPatrol 9.0 rebooted the system - tried to download the SP2 (which it did)
but go the same error. I have an extra hard drive, maybe I will install XP
Pro on it, then migrate the software from the failing computer.
