Greetings Baz,

From time-to-time, it will show invitations when they are none. It should just clear up on
its own in time.

Saying other people have the same problem is not a solution. How about a fix
for this? I get the same yellow bar "you have 1 invitation" every time I
sign in. When I click on the "X" to get rid of it, it will come back when I
restore the list view. Please provide an actual fix because it "doesn't just
go away."

Greetings Shawn,

The problem is server side, so, I'm not really sure how one is supposed to provide a fix?

If the problem is "server side" then it's MICROSOFT's problem and THEY should
fix it. This is so typical of ripoffsoft. LOUSY customer service.

Well yes, it should be fixed - but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a priority.

This seems to be a on going problem and has started happening on my WLM as of
20-05-2010 showing 5 invitations when there are none and i have tried
everything to clear it. When is this going to be sorted as it is a major
annoyance to many users.

Hi Frank,

It's been a problem for over a year to be fair. I think all concentration is on the 2010
release at the moment, which hopefully has it fixed.

I got same thing going on and its just plain annoying. But can't expect much
from Microsoft, if this was Apple it would have been fixed by now.

Just found out how to get rid. It's a corrupt part of the messenger contact
list internally. Cheers.

For Windows Vista/Windows 7
1. Click Start. Type Run in the Start Search box, hit Enter.
2. On the Run box, type: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\ and click OK
3. Delete the folder “Windows Live Contacts”
4. Click Start, type %userprofile% in the Search bar and the press Enter.
Delete the Contacts folder.

For Windows XP:
1. Click Start, click Run, copy and paste this message
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\ and then press Enter. Delete the
IdentityCRL folder.
2. Click Start, click Run, copy and paste this message
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\ and then press Enter. Delete
the IdentityCRL folder.
3. Click Start, click Run, copy and paste this message %USERPROFILE%\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\ and then press Enter. Delete the Windows
Live Contacts folder.
4. Click Start, click Run, copy and paste this message %USERPROFILE%\ and
then press Enter. Delete the Contacts folder.

Hi,

Yes that fixes it temporarily - it'll just come back when you get another invitation.
Additionally, if you log into other machines, boom, it comes back.
