As for the downloads, look in the Downloads folder under your current
user. Sometimes, depending upon your settings, a temporary file is
created on the desktop while downloading to ensure the start-up disc is
being used for access then, the file is transferred to the Download
folder or wherever you specified in your browser.

As for the communication problem, I don't know enough about Vista and
XP to give you an answer on that (yet).. thanks
