Hi Julianne
One of the w2k3 or xp updates crash a file called mpi.dll, MS knows about it
but have not released an update
I had it on 4 machines and spoke with MS who released an Temp update
'KB916089' but not for public release after multiple complaints.

A temporary fix is to stop the services using msconfig.called 'Windows
Installer' & 'Automatic Updates'
That should stop it reoccurring but updating won't work unless you do it
manually.

See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916089/

I have update here but don't know if I can release it?

Don

Hi Eric
It would get deleted if I put it up here even if I was allowed to
;-)

This ****ed me off so bad.

I just got this hotfix from MS last week; then, today I had reason to
call and request it again for another job and I was advised that it was
no longer available.

Well kiddies, here it is:

i don't know if mine is the same problem as this, but starting yesterday,
when i go to "microsoft update," it loads the page, says it is "done" in the
bottom left coner, but then hangs up, and says the web page is "not
responding." it crashes my internet explorer. i re-downloaded ie 7, and it
works on every other page EXCEPT the windows update page. is this partr of
the same issue?

thanks! kyle
