"Operating system not found" is a BIOS message, not a Windows message; given
that fact I'd start looking into a hardware fault in your laptop. Most
likely a hard drive preparing to shuffle off the mortal coil but it could
also be memory or a motherboard fault.

Probably left a floppy in the drive.
