I'll be the contrarian voice here ... yeah, it's entirely possible that you
could be experiencing performance issues. In my opinion, too many programs
load "optimizers" or "background updaters" or "function check" utilities
when they are installed on your PC, and too many of these background
processes will impact startup time and system performance.
Example - Adobe Acrobat reader installs a "speed loader" and a "background
update" module as part of the software and you do NOT get a choice nor are
you warned they're loaded. Maybe other Adobe programs do too. Neither one
is truly necessary and may impact system performance.
