DAMN UAC.....
DTA = Firefox 3 addon Downthem all
IV = Irfanview
TP = Thumbsplus

DTA IS working. Explorer ISN'T working.
Irfanview IS working. Thumbsplus ISN'T working.

Thumbsplus requires UAC confirm to fire up. Explorer doesn't.
DTA doesn't require UAC confirm to fire up.
Irfanview doesn't require UAC confirm to fire up.
so consistency in problem solving is out.

No telling how long DTA has been working. Sheesh..

The tirade below is about a google group page of links to Amanda Bynes pix.

I show my C:\temp folder with the un working stuff having some stuff I stuck
in
there ages ago.
Not 1 Amanda besides the 1 that I right click saved when she 1st appeared
and I
started having trouble with DTA.
Thing is till I clicked one of the downloaded items DIRECTLY in DTA and it
loaded up in Irfanview, I'd have never known exactly what's in the temp
folder,
over 100+ Amanda pix.
I took and MOVED them all to a NEW folder with IV to C:\TEMP\Amanda.

IV can see the folder but TP and explorer can't see the folder.

DAMN UAC...
Problem is that UAC does seem to work in blocking the virus and root kits
etc..Better than all virus software.
Now if I can just figure out WHY I can't see new stuff added to that folder,
and new folders, guess the term is NEW stuff no matter what.

Crap double crap.
I just smacked one of the images I've had in temp for weeks with IV. It
opened
fine. IV also no longer showed the OTHER images, or the C:\TEMP\AMANDA
folder
any more.

I'm assuming this is a UAC problem. I do know it has something to do with
Vista. I ran vista for 2 years WITHOUT UAC turned on and had next to nothing
in
problems.

Now after reinstalling the OS cause the virus software was less than
helpful
in stopping several Trojans I turned UAC on from the start.

And now nothing but problems, that I have to wonder if a Trojan now and then
is
a simpler tradeoff than running UAC, a 24/7 Trojan from M$.

Ok how do I get my folder displays, and contents in ALL folders to REFRESH
when
I enter them and display what's in them ?

I'm just throwing out ALL folders, as I doubt it's JUST my C:\TEMP and
folders
under it. FWIW: There's 2 NEW folders created by newsbin in that C:\TEMP\
folder just a day or two ago, and I've accessed them.

Sheesh what a tool for hackers if they actually have access to your drive.
and
create one of these invisible folders, and do whatever they want there..

How do I make this folders contents, and ALL folders visible again ?
====================

By default, the Temp folders are hidden/system, and Explorer can't see them
because by default the View of hidden/system folders is disabled. Turn
that on, and you will see them.

Also, I would suggest that you choose another temp folder structure for
storage, so that when you use things like ccleaner it doesn't wipe out your
saved files.
