Little tough to do forensics after the fact, but

Did you move the file ONTO to PPC or ON the PPC. That is, did you copy it
ONTO the PPC, and how, by putting it the sync folder on the desktop, or
dragging into AS Explore. Or did you move it from one place to another ON
the PPC. If so from where to where. If you just copied the file from you
desktop into main memory of the PPC via explore, it would immediately create
a copy of it in the sync folder on the PC.

When you say deleted from the desktop image, do you mean from the sync'd
files folder. If so that would immediately delete it from the PPC. Moving a
file out of the sync folder will remove it form the PPC as well. Moving a
file out of the sync folder on the PC deletes that file from the PPC too.

By unresolved item you mean a notice within AS correct? Not a seperate
pop-up window. What did you do about that? Just hit sync again? If it had
some problem with the file because it was open somewhere, it might go
unresolved, which is different from conflict, and running a sync again will
clear it up. If it had been deleted from the sync folder on the desktop,
deletion is what you requested.

As is mentioned, these options are invoked only if there is a conflict. A
conflict is when something has happenned to a piece of info on both devices
between syncs. A phone number for John Smith is changed on the PPC, and his
title is changed on the PC. That's a conflict. A file is deleted on the PC
and edited on the PPC, that is a conflict. In that case, with the option
set to 'Replace Item on Desktop', the edited file would be copied to the
desktop. Previous versions of AS, before 4, had a third option, "ASsk for
each conflict" and it would bring up a dialog box asking which way you
wanted to go for each conflicting item. I was that were still there.

I don't think you had a conflict and your rule setting didn't come into
play. I think you just had an unresolved item. AS couldn't do what it
thought it should the first time.

When you take it out of the sync'd files folder on the desktop, either by
deletion or by moving it.
