What does Windowsupdate.log (%windir%\Windowsupdate.log) have to say?

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file

Since I don't speak geek, I'm not totally sure, but it appears there was one
update detected yesterday, and multiple requests have been made for "install
approval".... However, there is a component not defined in the How to Read
documentation that seems to be trying to do something, it says:

CltUI AU client got new directive = 'Install Approval', serviceId =
{9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77}, return = 0x00000000
2007-11-27 12:03:15:750 2960 b94 CltUI AU client creating default WU/WSUS UI
plugin

Is this legit? What is CltUI? Is there somewhere in the log that I can see
what the ID is of the update that was detected and cross reference it
somewhere to see if I do indeed want it installed? Or alternatively, is
there a way to tell the system to throw the update back and ask again??

Sorry I'm not techinically savvy enough to recognize the info provided, just
a little paranoid these days.....

Thanks again!

You're welcome, but we're not going anywhere until you tell us your Windows
version (e.g., Windows XP; Vista).

Try this: Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and select Custom
install: What updates, idf any, are offered? What updates, if any, are
listed as "Downloaded and ready to install"?

Oops, should have mentioned I'm Windows XP earlier (I know that much at
least!). Checked what you suggested and it appears that it may be IE7 that
is downloaded and ready to update....if that's indeed the one, it may be OK,
but I don't really want it.... There were also some optional software and
hardware updates available as well, but didn't look like any of those were
already downloaded and ready.....

Is there any way at this point to say "thanks, but no thanks" to IE7 if
that's what's there?

Thanks again!!!
