When I run Microsoft Update the check takes some time and then fails
with the following error number:

Error number: 0x8DDD0009]

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you
are trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the
problem:
Refresh the page.
In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to
the Tools menu and clicking Internet Options.
Close and then re-open Internet Explorer.

If these steps don’t work, try visiting the site later or using the
resources provided below.
For self-help options:

Frequently Asked Questions
Find Solutions
Windows Update Newsgroup
For assisted support options:
Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for update-related issues)

I followed the recommendation and deleted all temporary update files
via the Internet Explorer Tools Delete all files. After this
completed I closed Internet Explorer and then ran the Microsoft Update
again. Again after some time the check for updates ended with the
same error message.

Can anyone suggest a solution so that the check process ends with the
list of possible updates to down load?

TIA

I posted the identical problem yesterday. No response yet. Reading the other
posts here, I'd say there were some major problems with Windows Update or its
server. Good luck and let me know if you find anything do-able to fix this.
Meanwhile I will stick with my old SP1 and no automatic updates. Doing the
"fix" instructions have not helped me.

Problem still being encountered. I run Update manually and custom so I can
select the fixes I really want. This problem started about three days ago
and no matter which of the recommended things to try nothing seems to resolve
the problem. Hopoefully Microsoft will fix the problem. Even tried posting
for help in microsoft.public.windowsupdate group but nothing yet.

If someone has figured out a waay past his please post solution.
