Greetings Skywolfe,

I know of no security update for Messenger 2009, so I think you're thinking of something
else. If you just mean they showed up on Windows/Microsoft Update, that would just be the
latest version. The last update was just pure bug fixes.

There's also been a Windows XP update for Messenger which dealt with some usability problems
with the double byte characters and the Windows IME, which also came through with the rest of
the standard Windows Updates.

that is the one I was refering to. when I last reformated it wasn't offered
where as the day or two before it was.:s and I do have WLM 2009 so I am
wondering if it might be because I restarted the installer after it looked
like it wouldn't install right away...

Hi,

I think everyone gets that update, regardless if they have Messenger installed or not. It is
a Windows Update, not a Messenger update (although it directly addresses a Messenger problem
with the Windows IME).

There could be plenty of reasons you're not been offered it but if you're terribly worried,
you can just install it yourself manually:

Unless you input Chinese a lot, I wouldn't even bother really

lol ok I just wondered I don't use other characters but the regular ones
anyway but it had said for messenger 14. and before I haven't gotten it until
live 2009 was issued. . I wasn't real sure if that was something that was a
needed security update or what...
