Start button --> RUN --> type in:
winver
--> Click OK.

Repeat the words you see in the picture at the top of the window that opens
and repeat the exact line below that that starts with the word "version"...

After that - did you read the KB article associated with it?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900325

You may - although not stated - need to uninstall Media Player 11 and revert
to an earlier version to install this *extremely old* update.
