"xpupgrade",
No. I believed you were talking about the i386 folder that we use on our OS
installation CD's, which have an i386 folder. This term refers to the Intel
x86 family of 32 bit processors, also known as "IBM-Compatible" machines.
An OEM build of Windows XP Home should not block, in any way, an upgrade to
Windows XP Professional.
As a precaution, do check with your IBM IT department, and verify that they
have not replaced any system files with something that may be overwritten
during your upgrade. This would likely not affect the OS functionality at
all, but might affect one or more of your applications at work.
Let us know how this works out.
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
