Have you gone into the Device Manager and uninstalled all of your Host
controllers and let the system reinstall them?

I and many others have experienced corruption of the basic USB drivers
following OS updates or service packs.

If uninstalling the USB drivers in Control Panel and then rebooting does not
solve your problem then something has failed on the laptop motherboard.

If the machine is out of warranty it is probably a wiser use of money to
purchase a new laptop than to try and have it repaired.

This worked on me after installing all updates including SP2.
Unplug/remove all devices from their ports (usb, etc.), shutdown you
laptop, pull out the battery and then hold down the power button for
minute. Then replace the battery, turn on the laptop and plug back i
devices in reverse order. It worked for me great without me having t
reinstall the logitech drivers for my V220 mouse. Even though I am a 1
yr technician and A+, this really threw me for a loop! Hope this work
for you
