you got my hopes up !!!

BUT

No it does not work for me either !

is there any way I can simply and temporarily disable ISA 2000 to see if it
is the reason Windows update doesnt work with our XP clients ?\

You must allow anoumous thur your proxy or it will not work. Also make sure
your rule is setup of any request.
