I am also running SP2 RC2 and the V5 update. I believe that a cumulative patch,
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (867801), was released today to users running the V4 updater, but I find no update available to me. Do I not need this patch?

Bill;
As far as I know, the Beta versions of SP 2 are not protected from
this vulnerability and no patch will be released.
Since the Betas versions are not on productions machines and no
critical data is involved, this is not really an issue.
The final release of SP 2 should be protected from this vulnerability.

Jan;
It is not unusual for updates to known vulnerabilities be nonexistent
for Beta products.
Part of the risk with Beta.

The info I've received so far indicates that this update is NOT
required for the version of IE included with XP SP2 .

Hi

This update is not available for SP2 RC2, but the Local Machine
Zone lockdown in XP SP2 mitigates against the 3 vulnerabilities
fixed in this update so unless you change the LMZ lockdown from
it's default you cannot be attacked by something that uses one
of those 3 vulnerabilities.

The update will be included in the final version of SP2 as far
as I understand.
