Microsoft dropped it from their news server, so traffic has dropped

And to me that's very disappointing, since nothing is faster into a USENET
newsgroup than via an NNTP reader. Now, one has to navigate into their
website, which accordingly is a LOT slower.

I agree. Take a look at their bridge, or the third party community
bridge if you want a minimally better alternative.

None of the bridges are particularly stable but the community bridge is
somewhat more stable and it works pretty well when it bothers to work at
all.
