And thank you for the detailed list of steps you attempted, Tom.
Frankly, issues such as these should *never* occur as folks will
continue losing Trust in Microsoft and then they'll Disable automtic
updating altogether.
One does not have to have too vivid an imagination to realize what the
impact of a major vulnerability combined with a lack of installing
Security updates on a significant proportion of systems will lead to.
