to clarify with you - going offline didn't change the desktop favicon
behaviour
(and hence, I didn't bother making the file readonly...)
as I said elsewhere in this thread,
I have since completely reinstalled (clean reinstall) Vista Home Premium
from the OEM DVD and can confirm this behaviour is occurring out-of-the-box
therefore, this must be a Vista bug... probably with explorer.exe I'm
guessing...
anybody else seeing this (lack of ie7 shortcut icons with Vista?)
