You're looking at the exception rather than at the rule. The Windows OS
*exception* for longevity is XP. The norm, over the past decade and a half,
or so, is ~ 2.5 years per version: 95, 98, 2000, XP, Vista, 7. When 7 is
released, Vista will have been out over two years, unless my old guy math is
borked. The version release cycle is returning to normal.
