Try using TeamViewer .

I'm completely in agreement with Jim. TeamViewer is free for personal use
and the parents don't need to install anything. It's way simpler to use
than Remote Desktop.

I'll second that - I use it to remotely administer two computers - one my 87
year-old Mother-in-Law and the second my 61 year-old mentally ill
Brother-in-Law, both of whom live over 200 miles away...
