Yup. To make it harder for thieves, you could set the BIOS to only boot
from
the HD and set a BIOS password, but thieves with more than one braincell
will simply remove the HD and reset the password using another PC.
If it's data that needs protection, encryption is a good idea, but requiring
yet
another password (to forget) and when the inevitable HD corruption occurs,
all of the data may be irrecoverable. Computers are a wonderful bag of
worms,
