I can't see how it sometimes works and other times it doesn't. It either
will or it won't. That's because an error 800 indicates necessary VPN ports
are not allowed to pass through a firewall/NAT/router (whatever is at those
locations), or the firewall/NAT/router that it is passing through, is an
older model. What ports need to be opened depends on the type of VPN,
whether L2TP or PPTP. Some of the Linksys routers call it "VPN passthrough."
So it depends on the router at those locations, which you will need to check
the docs for the equipment. You'll need to know the type of VPN, and the
type of routers on your end and at the source.
