RE: Why I cannot update to VS2005 SP1?

I am having the same problem. I tried twice, then found the manual download
here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

It seems to be working. However, it's been "Preparing to install..." and
eating my CPU like crazy for the past 20 minutes. I think I'll give up
tonight (being 1 AM EST) and try again tomorrow. Maybe you'll have better
luck, though.

Nop, I still cannot get VS SP1 installed on my computer. :-(
Is there any other solution?

I also am having this problem. At first I got this error with the SQL SP1
update and the VS2005 update but after removing and re-installing .NET 2.0
and renaming the folders that contain the uupdate info and downloading the
updates again that error went away but the error for Visual Studio remains. I
am running on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1. Any help on this would be
greatly appreciated.

I tried to remove .Net 2.0/3.0 and reinstall the VS SP1, but the error still
remain...

I finally got the update to work. I downloaded the manual installer which has
been mentioned in several other posts. This failed the first time with an
error that pointed me to this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336.
After making the security change talked about here I was able to get the
update to install successfully.

Thanks to those who put the pieces out there to find the solution for my
installation.
