Greetings,

I'm not clear about how Communicator 2005 isn't "modern"? Exactly what functionality are you
missing? The idea is to have a corporate, clean and professional IM client without the
"cutesy" features which are in Windows Live Messenger. If you're looking for the cutesy
features, don't expect them any time soon. I assure you, Winks aren't on the feature list
for Communicator 2007.

As well, I don't think you'll see a combined client again for a long time, the teams are
separate and putting them back together would be a big political decision. If you really
want a combined client with more of the "fun" features, you can grab a Mac and use
Messenger:Mac which does both. No voice or video though.

Communicator 2007 is supposed to come next year, inevitably it will be included in Enterprise
2007 itself. If you have legal access to Enterprise now, then it will simply be delivered
the same way Office has.

Windows Messenger 5.1 installs just fine on Vista for me, are you sure you're using at least
RC2? Earlier builds did have issues though.

Hi,

Windows Messenger 5.1 will do everything you want and is fully supported, that's what you're
going to have to use. Have a great holiday.

Don't go into sales.
