Forwared to Vista General via crosspost. This is an *Internet* Explorer
newsgroup, not a Windows Explorer newsgroup.

Ah but Bear, they are often related.

The biggest cause of WE errors I've found are salicious plug-ins/add-ons in
IE. The user should hit ctrl+shift+escape to open task manager, the click
new task and type inetcpl.cpl, then click ok. On the programs tab, click
'manage add-ons' and disable those that are loading with IE (set the show
dropdown to look at those that run without requiring permission, then
disable those currently loaded).

True.

=> Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;

2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

=> Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

Bear,

Hopefully you have the fix for this. I have the same issue, W.E. restarting,
losing the desktop, it happens so fast, I cannot get it the control pannel
fast enough to do anything, very irritating, and is currently doing as I
write the reply. Without wiping the HD again for a new reload, was their a
simple fix to resolve this? I used the task manager to stop it, and that
works, but I also lost the desktop.

This seems to me, to be a big conspiracy to sell more bulcrap antispyware
programs, I was in a web site, when my AV approached me with the fact of
having a virus. If W.E. is so vunnurable to attacks, and we have so many
responces to this issue, why does'nt Microsoft have a fix, or send out
correction notices to everyone the registered the product?

Thanks for reading,

JW

What's the fault bucket data here as present in the Problem Reports and
Solutions center:
http:/zachd.com/pss/pss.html#bucket
?

If you can't get that data, it sounds like you should contact actual
support.

JW, I don't know which newsgroup you're reading but it'd be best for you to
begin your own, new thread about /your/ problem so as to avoid confusing
yours with that of the OP (TRANGNGUYENUCBLA2008) here. Thanks.
