Although the "upgrade" is a supported method, doing so is a
bit like playing with fire - sometimes you get burned and
sometimes you don't. And, sometimes there is a smoldering
ember that eventually bursts into flames with no advance
warning.
The safest method, and by far the most recommended, it to
completely wipe out any previous installations and do a
complete installation to avoid problems that might be
incurred because of conflicts with residual software,
drivers, .dll's, etc.
