Hello Paul,

Is this a fairly new computer? Is it still under warranty?

There is a problem with your hard drive or hard drive controller. Run a
chkdsk on your hard drive. Check the cabling from the motherboard to the
hard drive. Make sure that all of your device drivers are up to date.

If chkdsk finds errors, back up all of your data and be prepared to replace
the hard drive.

Hi Jane,
this is a system I built myself about 5 months ago. The drives are under
warranty and I back up (images) weekly. Chkdsk shows no problems at all and
all the cables are making good contact. Drivers are updated as well. I'm
pretty anal about all of that stuff.
I guess I'll mosey along until the fat lady sings!
Thanks
