HELP!!!! Im not very pc knowledegeable so please bear with me-Have had my
2.6g xp home edition for almost a year and its only been crashing for the
past 5 months or so, basically it will make a click sound exactly the same
as swithching off then shut down and re-boot of its own accord and this will
happen wether ive been working on it 5 mins or 5 hours or it will happen them
wont re-occur for weeks! and will report an error message:windows minidump
etc. the only faint ideas i have are through reading other q and a topics
which are-possible overhating, dust build up,and i havent as yet installed the
service pack 2 or could it possibly be because my hard drive is nearly full?
any ideas?-anyone?? please!!!

Hi Richard,

If you have some mini dumps you can send them to me and I'll look at
them in a debugger and see what they say. If the bugcheck is due to a bad
driver it may be necessary to use Driver Verifier to catch it. To determine
what driver is causing the problem I need you to enable driver verifier.
Steps:
1) Windows Key + R
2) Type in 'verifier' and hit enter
3) Make sure 'Create Standard Setting' is selected and hit next
4) Click on 'Select all drivers installed on this computer' and hit Finish
5) Reboot

There is a possibility that your computer will crash on reboot. If this
occurs hit F8 when rebooting just before the windows logo screen and select
the safe mode boot option. Follow the same steps above but on step 4 choose
'Select driver names from a list'; hit next; check the box next to any
driver where the provider is not Microsoft; hit Finish; reboot.

This will slow the performance of you computer a little while enabled but
will hopefully catch the driver causing corruption. Next time you crash
the blue screen will hopefully say something like
"DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION". If this occurs please send the
corresponding minidump (by default it is at c:\windows\Minidump ) my way.
If you have any questions or I didn't explain something well enough don't
hesitate to e-mail me back. Good Luck,

Hi ya Joshua,

Thanks for getting back to me-I ran through the steps you gave me all
successfully
I changed all the settings and then shutdown and re-started,and as you said
it rebooted iteself-all well so far. I then followed the next steps through
shut down and re started again only this time it wouldn't start up? kept
rebooting itself uyntill i restarted on the last known working settings.

I dont think I did anything wrong-any ideas?

And how would i go about finding and sending you my mini dump reports?
Because evey time it crashed it said this computer has recovered from a
serious errror and a log of this error has been made.

Hi Richard,

Is there .dmp files located in your C:\Windows\Minidump directory? If so
can you send me those? Would the machine start up in Safe Mode after
enableing Driver Verifier?

Hi Josh,

Im afraid I have no idea whats happened to the log of these errors but i
cant seem to find them now-I did put in a search for windows mini dump
directory and it didnt come back with anything.

And yeah it started ok in safe mode so I could apply the changes you asked
then
rebooted and it would only get to the screen where you could select safe
mode or normal start up etc and would crash promtly after that, and thats when
I went back to last known good configuration.

Hi Richard,

Can you use the System Information tool in Start -> Programs ->
Accessories -> System Tools and send me an analysis of your machine. If you
prefer to not post it here you can send it directly to me, just remove the
online portion of my email address. If you need to you can disable Driver
Verifier to do this. This will allow me to see what hardware and programs
you have installed and I might be able to spot some issues that may be the
cause.

Joshua,

I am running Windows XP pro and suddenly started getting the sysdata.xml and
minidump reboot problems. They first occured when running the Windows Beta
Spyware utility and then again when running the Norton's Windows Registry
Scan utility. I am at a complete loss as to how to fix this. When I run
either of these programs, it stops in the middle of the scan and simply
reboots and then displays the following error:

C:\DOCUME~1\Jon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER08a5.dir00\Mini05 2705-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Jon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER08a5.dir00\sysdat a.xml

Can you please help me with this?
My email is

Hi Jonathan,

I think this is the same issue I replied to you in email. If not let me
know.

Do you get a similar message with your mini dump?

I have Media Center 2005 installed on my computer. It is a Gateway Desktop
Model GT5014. I'm running Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 with Windows XP
Media Center 2005 Edition.
When running media center I am restarted and when the computer restarts I
get a message stating "System has recovered from a serious error" then I get
a message that pops up with two files from my C: drive one is a .dir00 file
the other is a minil02506-01.dmp.
It then gives me an error signature with a group of numbers:
BCCode: 100000ea BCP1: 86eD4DA8 BCP2: 86B79F60 BCP3:F79C5CBC BCP4:00000001
OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 2_0 Product:256_1

I get this when running media center.

I'm not sure if upgrading to one of the roll ups would work. I don't know if
it is a virus or not. I tried every virus protection there is and nothing
comes up.

I posted this in another forum and advice was given to re-install the tuners.

Supposedly others have tried it and it doesn't work.

Please help with any ideas.

Thanks!!
