Same problem here!

Using MS Office 2007 (SP2) on Windows XP (SP3). Try to check for updates
through MS Access > Options > Information sources > Check for Updates. Then
the webpage http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...ult.aspx?ln=nl
is activated and a message appears that the ActiveX must be installed.

It seems to be a very old problem, but after 5 years still no solution
here....
