1. To assure a clean, troublefree install of anything (including Windows
Updates), your anti-virus application should be disabled and all other
running processes closed (e.g., IE, mail client, Office) before beginning
the install. See if temporarily disabling your AV app (and/or firewall;
CAREFUL!) helps at all.
2. Try reinstalling Windows 5.6 Scripting Engine

3. The V4 Troubleshooter addresses the problem in two sections:
Download stops or freezes. The Windows Update - Web Page Dialog window
appears but download never starts
Download hangs. The Windows Update - Web Page Dialog window appears but
download never starts (Windows 98)
