0x80072F78 ERROR_WINHTTP_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE
The server response could not be parsed.
The result code may have been just a temporary glitch if the system was
not restarted after the Fixit was run. the update servers were busy, or
the system is using a proxy server to access the update servers.
The WindowsUpdate.log is showing a proxy server

As for the GMER results, see -
http://www.gmer.net/#faq
There's an email address at the bottom of the page from which you can
contact the author of GMER if you have questions about what it detected.
Another root kit scanner which is easier to use is F-Secure BlackLight,
but it's not as powerful as GMER -
http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA/secu...ls/blacklight/
And, since you stated that no antivirus has been installed coupled with
the long list of updates in the WindowsUpdate.log that had not been
installed, there's a strong likelihood that malware is resident on the
system, Pictor.
For all I know, malware may have set up it's own proxy server and the
system is now part of a botnet.
Strongly suggest that you back up all of your personal data, program
installation files, and such prior to running some type of malware scan.

Click the Download free version button to start the download, save it,
and then install MBAM with the system connected to the internet so that
it can update itself to the latest definitions.
Then do a Quick scan with it.
When it's done scanning a log will open up along with a window telling
you if any infected objects were detected. Close the log.
Close the window, click the Show Results button in MBAM.
Be sure that everything detected is checked then click the Remove
selected button.
If MBAM prompts you to restart the system, do so.
Then restart it again to Safe Mode and choose Perform full scan.
