RE: WinXP SP2 updates from March - made my desktop "read only" I think

Hi
I have a problem that started with updates in March or even February 2007.
I have 2 PC's on a home network. Both using Windows XP Home.
Nothing was wrong on the network untill I downloaded an update file - do not
know which one.
My PC (this one is the master)
The other one can get e-mail and send them, but to surf the net is a
nightmare. Only some websites open. Others does only say "cannot connect to
server" Funny thing is that it is not always the same sites. Some may open
now and after a while not.
If I only knew that the updates do this, I would never updated windows.
I thought it was good to install all of them.
Anyone with thoughts. I will appreciate it very much
