Where did you think was the "Windows Live" e-mail service?

P.S.
Do NOT post using HTML in Usenet.

?I have used wlm for a couple of years. This post is being sent that way,
as is all of my mail (sent and received). Send link pull down from a page
in Firefox, for example, uses wlm (not/not Hotmail). When I choose the
email sub-menu in IE9 it tells me I do not have my Hotmail inbox set up.
Sounds distinct to me.

This is part and parcel of Microsoft's continuing insistence on using confusingly similar names for its mail programs/services.
When a user talks about "Windows Live" it is a 50/50 guess whether he means Windows Live Mail or Windows Live Hotmail.

?Couldn't agree more. IMHO, Ray's departure is indicative of a culture at
Microsoft that was unwilling to accept the vision of one of the best there
is.
Who knows why? I do suspect, however, that it is more than just confusingly
similar names and much broader than just mail. Though your point is right
on.

Using a Live ID in WLM ?
Is the Live ID a third party registered Email address ?
Is the Live ID remembered to sign in automatically in
the Windows Live Sign-In Assistant ?
If IE is opened to Msn.com and ‘Sign In’ clicked in the
upper right does the sign on Windows show the Live ID already signed on ?

Please answer all 4 questions.

If its a 3rd party email Live ID then anyting attempting to
open Hotmail using that Live ID should claim that no Inbox is setup.

Try it while signed on with a Hotmail type account
(hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com, live.ne, live.uk.com etc)
that has a Hotmail Inbox(unlike 3rd party Live ID's which do not).

If the problem is not calling WLM to open when using IE's Send link,
send page etc options....that is usually an indication that WLM
is not configured to be the default email client for all its
available settings and file types.
